Manuscript

First of all, a full copy of the novel is available right here for review.  I want to thank you not only for reading it, but far more importantly for considering any contacts you may have which could get this message in the right hands – governors, TV and radio personalities, and grassroots organizations.  And yes, the relatively few members of Congress who genuinely support a large-scale return of power from Washington power brokers to the States where it belongs.

Synopsis

In a desperate bid to reclaim the republic from an out-of-control Congress, incoming President Jack Andrews forcibly sequesters every member of both houses of Congress. Effectively holding them under house arrest, he gives them two stark options: fix the problems they created, or stand trial for treason. The future of the republic hangs in the balance, and a single misstep could plunge the nation – and the world – into a nuclear holocaust.

My Motive

What is my end game?

This book came about at a moment when I felt intense frustration with Washington, DC, particularly with Congress.  I thought, “Sometimes I wish I could just lock them all up.”  And with that thought, the novel was born.  Now while I wish no one any ill will, and absolutely no harm, I also share the righteous anger of many millions of patriotic Americans who feel that We The People are hostage to Congress, and perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reverse this equation for once.

But my ultimate goal is not the satisfaction of seeing anyone in prison.  My end game is very simple: to witness a lawful, peaceful Convention of States that will roll back decades of increasingly bold and alarming congressional overreach.  That is the goal of Executive Order.  Millions of Americans will not take a class on Constitution law; but my hope and prayer is that the pen remains mightier than the sword, and it is the pen that will educate the public about Article V of the United States Constitution.  I fear that not one in 10,000 students in our high schools even knows what Article V is.  It has not been used since 1787.  But it may prove to be one of the most significant aspects of our architecture that the Founding Fathers ever envisioned.  It may be the most unappreciated, but only if we act.

Why Now?  Why the Urgency?

Very simple: Since 9/11, the excesses of government overreach have reached epidemic proportions.  We understood the reasoning behind additional airport security measures, but as predicted, any freedoms lost as a result have never been restored.  And worse, it seemed to embolden Congress to constant power grabs.  Observe:

  • Nancy Pelosi stating “We have to pass ObamaCare to find out what’s in it”.  It seems almost criminal that the entire congressional body was not allowed to read the full monstrosity of a bill before voting on it.  This forced a disastrous, one-size-fits-all healthcare plan which in effect could not be repealed.  Worse than the bill itself is Congress’ attitude toward their power to do whatever they like.
  • Congress continues to shatter record after record in revenue collection.  The U.S. Treasury announced in 2022 that it had collected over two trillion dollars in taxes during a recent six-month period.  This includes well over $1 Trillion from working individuals and families.  “But the IRS, and not Congress, is the bad guy when it comes to taxes, right?”  Wrong.  Congress created, funds, and empowers the IRS.  10,000 additional IRS employees have recently been authorized by Congress.  They are becoming more powerful, not less.
  • Speaking of federal agencies, besides the IRS there are several hundred agencies which Congress has created, grown, and empowered, each of which has been given authority to create their own rules and regulations which Americans must follow.  They derive their authority from Congress and ultimately are controlled by Congress.
  • And during the Coronavirus pandemic, no one can forget how the federal government unilaterally decided to shut down entire swaths of the economy.  The States were rendered largely powerless, and we have not come close to counting the cost of those shutdowns.

The above examples do not even scratch the surface of what our Congress routinely gets away with, and the more powerful they grow, the weaker we become.

Do I really want Congress locked up?  Only if under the rule of law and through due process it can be shown that they personally are guilty of a specific crime punishable as such.  The novel shows one dramatic way this could happen, whereby through a humane house arrest members of Congress are sequestered and given the opportunity to craft revised legislation to bring desperately-needed reform ranging from term limits to a balanced budget to ethics overhaul for federal employees, including Congress itself.  In the book, the legislation is crafted, partly under the assumption that once Congress is released from house arrest they’ll never let the legislation see the light of day and they’ll go after the President with a vengeance, having learned absolutely nothing from the experience.

Only the plot takes a huge turn when the completed legislation is given to the States, who hold a lawful Convention of States and pass an amendment to make this happen.  That is quite a spoiler but it is precisely what I want and if enough people join the fight, there is no reason this cannot happen.  The substance of the book is to restore the balance of power.  We all agree Congress has far too much power and far too little oversight.

That must change.  Executive Order is a new weapon to fight that battle.  If you have a means to get this message in front of another mover and shaker, that one final connection could represent the tipping point to make this happen.  If you are a God-fearing, law-abiding American citizen, then you and I are on the same team.

Let’s make this happen already.
